where we are all a work in progress…
Serena Garnett, LAC
You're someone who pours their heart into everything you do, striving for perfection in your work, relationships, and personal pursuits. Despite your dedication and hard work, there's a persistent feeling of not being good enough that leaves you feeling overwhelmed and exhausted.
The pressure to meet incredibly high standards weighs heavily on you, leaving you feeling stretched thin and at your wit's end. Even when you receive praise or recognition, it's hard to fully embrace it, as that inner voice keeps insisting that you must do even better.
As these expectations mount, so does your struggle with anxiety and depression. What once may have been manageable worry has now escalated into a constant battle with feelings of sadness, emptiness, and hopelessness. You know deep down that something has to change; living in this constant state of stress and self-doubt is simply not sustainable anymore.
In your pursuit of connection, you've often found yourself in relationships where you crave closeness and security yet feel isolated within them. This feeling of loneliness echoes the sense of disconnection you sometimes experience within your family dynamics, leaving you feeling unseen and misunderstood.
These relational struggles weigh heavily on you, exacerbating feelings of self-doubt and insecurity. You long for someone who can understand the complexities of your inner world, offering guidance and support as you navigate the tangled web of your past traumas and relationship patterns.

I help teens and adults who are navigating the complexities of relationships, both with themselves and with others, to find relief from the weight of perfectionism and anxiety. Together, we create a warm and inviting atmosphere where you feel comfortable expressing your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Through a blend of traditional talk therapy and creative activities like writing, music, and art, we uncover insights into the past and foster personal transformation for the future. With therapy, you can discover new ways of relating to yourself and others, paving the way for a brighter, more fulfilling future.

Here’s a little about me:
I believe that life is like a book, composed of chapters waiting to be written. My goal is to help you navigate and resolve emotionally fraught, unresolved chapters in your life, so that you may turn the page and begin writing the new story of your life that you've only dreamed of.
With a background in individual counseling with young adults and a focus on relational dynamics, I bring a wealth of experience and understanding of today's complex lives and families to our sessions. My journey as a therapist has led me through various roles, including counseling at Pennsylvania State University's Counseling Services and teaching courses in Women's Psychology and Child-Adolescent Psychology at Caldwell University.
In our time together, my priority is to create a warm and welcoming space where you can freely share your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I deeply value the power of building a strong therapeutic relationship over time, often working with clients for years. Through our ongoing journey together, we'll unravel the complexities of your past and present relationships, empowering you to shape the future narrative you desire.
If you're ready to rewrite your story and embark on a new chapter of self-discovery and growth, I'm here to accompany you with warmth, understanding, and creativity. Together, we'll navigate the twists and turns of life's relationships, paving the way for a brighter, more fulfilling future.
